International Afro Roots Reggae star, Rocky Dawuni, has been shining his light ever so brightly as we move on into 2012. Last year was an incredibly powerful year for Dawuni with being nominated and winning multiple international awards, performing with legendary artists including Stevie Wonder at the Hollywood Bowl and being named one of CNN’s Top 10 African Artists! Rocky’s first show of 2012 was in Aspen, Colorado to join the House of Marley and Marley Beverages' event at the X-Games. He performed with a full band for an ecstatic crowd at the “Marley Safehouse” which is set up for the elite athletes, press, VIPs and other during the world renown sporting event. International Reggae Star Rocky Dawuni was recently in his home country of Ghana to hold a series of meetings to discuss a broad range of issues with Ghana’s top leaders. Dawuni met with the Vice President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, and former Presidents of Ghana; His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings and His Excellency John Agyekum Kuffuor. The weekly club, Afro Funke', which celebrated its 8th anniversary in May 2011, was the brainchild of Afro Roots star, Rocky Dawuni, who realized LA's need for a night dedicated to African music, culture and art and it's far reaching legacy around the world. Dawuni, who's based in LA and his native Ghana, together with talent booker and photographer Cary Sullivan created Afro Funke', bringing on board resident DJ and partner DJ Jeremy Sole. Each week Afro Funke’ presents international guest DJs, live band performances, guest musicians, dancers, cutting edge films, record release parties, fundraisers, fashion shows, art installations, crafts and much more!
